Halal and Non-Halal Gelatin in NZ by FIANZ

We pray that this letter finds all of you in the best of health and highest of Islamic spirits and that all of you are enjoying the Bounties of Allah SWT in this Blessed month of Ramadhan.

FIANZ has received confirmed information that the gelatine used in Flora brand Light spread and Ultra Light Spread is derived from pork. However, the Flora Original does not contain any gelatine.

Therefore we urge you to inform the Muslim communities in your respective ward not to consume any brand of "light" margarine. Community members must also be advised that they should read the additives in the processed food before it is consumed.
